Election Appeals Master Upholds Debate
The debate between Teamster presidential candidates Tom Leedham and James Hoffa will go on as scheduled, Friday September 21st! Union democracy will take a giant leap forward as Teamster members concerned about the future of the union will have the opportunity to evaluate the leadership, knowledge and vision of the two candidates.
Election Appeals Master Judge Conboy yesterday denied the appeals filed by the Hoffa Campaign seeking to prevent the debate. Conboy also affirmed Election Administrator William Wertheimer's plan to distribute 500,000 videotapes of the debate to Teamster members, which Hoffa had also opposed. (EAD 428)
Videos will be available through the two campaigns, and by request from Local Unions. The Leedham Campaign will also post streaming video footage of the debate on its website.
