Strike Fund Heist!
Hoffa Threatens Raid on
Dedicated' Strike Fund
When Hoffa and other Teamster leaders were giving the hard sell for the big dues hike last year, they promised to create a "dedicated Strike Fund" that could only be used to pay strike benefits and help members wage effective strikes.

But now James Hoffa says he intends to use our strike fund to pay for a variety of general expenses, including "contract education" and "membership mobilization."

Hoffa announced his plans in a Dec. 23 letter to Teamsters at Southwest Airlines, many of whom are angry about the dues increase and questioning whether they will ever use the strike fund because of the difficulties of striking in their industry.

Hoffa promised them, "Our Strike Fund will be used to conduct an aggressive SWA contract campaign, contract education and for membership mobilization efforts. The IBT Strike Fund will be used to ensure that our SWA members win a strong contractregardless of whether or not a strike occurs."
